Gem Wallet adds QR Code Scan - starting August 28, 2026, from version 2.114.11. A scanner icon is now on the wallet screen: point the camera at any QR code, and the app works out what it is - a payment invoice, an address, a WalletConnect connection, or a link to a screen in the app.
What Is QR Code Scan in Gem Wallet?
QR Code Scan is a built-in QR code scanner on the Gem Wallet wallet screen. It reads a code and detects its type on its own: a payment invoice, a crypto address, a WalletConnect session, or an app deep link.
A code with an amount opens the confirmation screen: the asset, the recipient, and the amount are already filled in, and all you do is check them and confirm the transfer. A code without an amount fills in the recipient field, and you enter the amount yourself.
Now our users no longer have to work out what kind of code it is or which network it belongs to - Gem Wallet does that for you.
Which Networks and Payment Standards QR Code Scan Reads
Bitcoin and BIP21: A payment code in Bitcoin carries the address, the amount, and the comment straight into the transfer.
Ethereum and EVM Networks, ERC681: Native transfers and token transfers in Ethereum, BNB Chain, and other EVM networks - an invoice for 50 USDT opens a confirmation with the token, the amount, and the recipient already filled in.
Solana and Solana Pay: SOL and SPL tokens, along with a memo and a payment reference.
TON Transfer Links: The amount and a text comment for a transfer in TON.
XRP Payment Links: The amount and a destination tag for a transfer in XRP.
