# Gem Wallet Supports Dynamic Network Fees on XRP Ledger: Transfers Priced by Real-Time Load
> Gem Wallet supports dynamic network fees on XRP Ledger - learn how to send XRP and tokens for a fraction of a cent and pay by the real load of the blockchain.

Starting September 29, 2026, with version 2.114.54, Gem Wallet calculates the network fee on XRP Ledger from the current load - on iOS and Android. Now the fee for every transaction follows the real load of the network, and during quiet hours an XRP transfer costs a fraction of a cent.

## Gem Wallet Supports Dynamic Network Fees on XRP Ledger

Gem Wallet calculates the fee on <a href="https://xrpl.org/" rel="nofollow">XRP Ledger</a> from the current network load: before every transaction, the app checks what it costs to get into a ledger (a block of transactions) right now and calculates two options from that price - Normal and Fast. Before, the fee almost always stayed at 0.005 XRP, even though the network needs only 10 drops, or 0.00001 XRP. Now, when you send [XRP](https://gemwallet.com/xrp-wallet/) to a friend or move [RLUSD](https://gemwallet.com/rlusd-wallet/), the Normal option on a quiet network charges 250 times less. We look after our users' funds: Gem Wallet keeps track of the XRP Ledger load on its own, and all you do is choose an option and confirm the transfer.

### How Much an XRP Ledger Transaction Costs in Gem Wallet

Both options add headroom to the current price of getting into a ledger, so the transaction goes through even if the ledger fills up between the calculation and the sending:

- **Normal:** Twice the entry price - 0.00002 XRP on a quiet network (September 2026).
- **Fast:** Four times the entry price - 0.00004 XRP on a quiet network, twice the headroom of Normal.

Under high load, the fee grows together with the entry price: for example, at a price of 5,000 drops, the Normal option comes to 0.01 XRP and Fast to 0.02 XRP. XRP Ledger doesn't reject a transaction with a fee below the current price - it queues the transaction and includes it in one of the next ledgers.

## Benefits for Gem Wallet Users

Gem Wallet is a mobile self-custody wallet with 100% open-source code for iOS and Android. Here is what it gives you on XRP Ledger:

- **Full Self-Custody:** Gem Wallet keeps private keys only on your device - you sign transactions on XRP Ledger, and no intermediary has access to your assets.
- **Fully Open-Source Code:** Gem Wallet's code is 100% open and passed a <a href="https://skynet.certik.com/wallets/gem-wallet" rel="nofollow">CertiK audit</a> in April 2026 - anyone can check how the app calculates the fee on XRP Ledger.
- **Privacy by Default:** No email, phone number, or ID - Gem Wallet does not collect user data.
- **Fees Based on Network Load:** Gem Wallet recalculates the fee before every transaction - on a quiet network you don't overpay, and when the load grows, Normal and Fast take the new price into account right away.
- **One Formula for All Transactions:** Dynamic network fees work for XRP and token transfers, trust line operations (permission to hold a token on XRP Ledger), and swaps.
- **Built-in DEX Aggregator:** [Swap](https://gemwallet.com/swap/) XRP for BTC, ADA, and other assets right in the app through THORChain, Swaps.xyz, and other providers.
- **Top Up Your XRP Balance:** [Buy XRP](https://gemwallet.com/buy-xrp/) with a credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay in 170+ countries - you need XRP both for transfers and for paying the fee.

## How to Send XRP With Dynamic Network Fees in Gem Wallet

1. Open Gem Wallet, select XRP, and tap Send
2. Enter the recipient address and the amount
3. Tap the Network Fee row
4. Choose Normal or Fast - the Network Fee row instantly shows the fee in XRP and dollars

***Important:** The fee on XRP Ledger is always charged in XRP, so to send tokens such as RLUSD, keep a small amount of XRP on your balance.*

## Conclusion

Gem Wallet grows together with our users: the fee on XRP Ledger now adjusts to the network on its own, and during quiet hours a transfer costs a fraction of a cent. Open Gem Wallet, send XRP or RLUSD, and pay by the real load of the network - securely and privately.
