Starting September 5, 2026, with version 2.114.13, Gem Wallet supports BIP-321 - the new standard for Bitcoin payment links. Our users can now pay an invoice by QR code or link and see the exact BTC amount on the confirmation screen right away, whatever format the invoice comes in.

## What Is BIP-321?

<a href="https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0321.mediawiki" rel="nofollow">BIP-321</a> is the standard for Bitcoin payment links that replaced BIP-21 (BIP stands for Bitcoin Improvement Proposal, a proposal to improve <a href="https://bitcoin.org/" rel="nofollow">Bitcoin</a>). A link or QR code built on it carries the recipient's address, the amount, and a note for the transfer.

The standard adds three things: link parameters are read in any letter case, the address can sit in the link parameters instead of at the start, and the wallet must either handle required parameters (marked req-) or decline the payment.
