USDT Transfer Fees FAQ
USDT exists on many blockchains, not just one. Gem Wallet supports USDT on every network in the table above, including TRON, Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain. The USDT on each network is separate, so always send on the network the recipient expects.
It changes with network activity. The ranking above sorts every supported network by the current estimated cost of a USDT transfer, cheapest first, and refreshes every minute while the page is open. Networks with high demand or expensive computation, such as Ethereum, usually cost more than high-throughput and layer-2 networks. Before you send, make sure the recipient supports the network you choose.
Stake TRX in Gem Wallet and choose Energy as the resource. On TRON, Energy is the resource that pays for USDT transfers. When your account has enough Energy, the transfer uses it instead of burning TRX from your balance.
On most networks the fee is paid in the network’s native coin, not in USDT, such as TRX on TRON, ETH on Ethereum, BNB on BNB Chain, or SOL on Solana. You need enough of that coin to cover the fee shown in the table above, and the Fee paid in column shows which coin it is. Keep a small extra balance, because fees change with network activity. Gem Wallet shows the exact fee before you confirm.
It depends on the network. The Block time column shows how often each network adds a new block, and most transfers confirm within one or a few blocks. Exchanges may wait for extra confirmations before they credit a deposit.
No. A transfer stays on one network, so the recipient must use the same network you send on. If you sent USDT on the wrong network to a self-custodial wallet you control that supports that network, the funds are still yours there, and you can access them with the same recovery phrase. If you sent it to an exchange, only its support can recover the deposit. To move USDT between networks, use a cross-chain swap in Gem Wallet.
