What Is Bonk (BONK)?
Bonk is a dog-themed meme coin that runs on Solana. It is an SPL token, the token format of Solana. As of November 2026, about 88 trillion BONK are in circulation, and the project’s site counts more than 400 integrations. You can look up the token itself on its Solscan page.
From Your Card to Your Solana Address
Gem Wallet lets you buy BONK without opening an exchange account first. You pay the on-ramp provider, and it sends the tokens straight to your wallet. Gem Wallet is also listed in the Solana wallet directory.
The tokens land at your Solana address, and the same address receives SOL and every other SPL token. You do not need a separate one for Bonk. Your 12-word phrase restores the address and everything on it, and Gem Wallet stays your Bonk wallet from there.
BONK Balances Run Into the Millions
With a supply counted in trillions, one BONK is worth a tiny fraction of a cent. Even a small order therefore arrives as millions of tokens, so plan your purchase in dollars and read your holding by the dollar figure next to the balance.
What Goes Into the Total
The provider’s fee or spread sets most of what you pay, and it can differ by provider and between a card and a local method. The Solana network fee for delivery is part of the provider’s total.
Gem Wallet compares the quotes from its on-ramp partners and shows about how much BONK you will get before you continue.
Pay by Card or Swap Into BONK
If you already hold crypto, the wallet’s built-in swap is the other way in. On Solana it routes your swap through providers such as Jupiter and Orca, with every step in one transaction.
| Route | You pay with | What you pay for | Fits when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fiat purchase | Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay | Provider’s fee or spread, Solana network fee | You hold no crypto yet |
| Swap on Solana | SOL, USDC, other SPL tokens | 0.5% swap fee, Solana network fee | Your funds are already on Solana |
| Swap to SOL, then to BONK | Coins on other networks | 0.5% swap fee on each swap, route and network costs | Your funds sit on another network |
Keep a Little SOL for Network Fees
Solana charges its network fees in SOL, not in BONK, so sending or swapping your tokens later takes a little SOL. The SOL you buy in Gem Wallet shares an address with your BONK, and even a small amount covers many transfers.
